Meet Bev Ludlow, owner of BHLWebDesign

I have been designing, making, and selling my wire and gemstone jewelry since 1988. At one time my husband and I were doing 25 craft shows a year. We now are able to cut back to fewer than 12, because of the increased sales from my web site wirewrapjeweler.com.

I first learned how to design websites at my local Junior college, American River College, where I learned to read and write HTML, the language of the World Wide Web. My first site served its purpose of giving me a web presence, and also gave me a love for the seeming magic of web design. My first revision was designed using Dreamweaver 4, using Photoshop Elements to do the product galleries and detail pages. Never satisfied with the templates that were provided, I was always tweaking things to get the look I was after. I was happy with that revision for several years, but still wasn’t making much money from it.

Then I found Ken Klages, who did the two initial template pages from which my current site has evolved. He also advised me about SEO, Search Engine Optimization. I’ve learned that SEO is an ongoing project, but well worth the time and effort involved.

In the course of adding to, and trying to incorporate the old site’s product line with the new site layout, I learned CSS and more about the ins and outs of web design. My first paid site was for Joanie Jackson, Owner of Winning Impressions, an image consultant firm in Placerville, CA. Her site has also gone through a couple of revisions as her needs changed. When Allan Mason of silvermason.com hired me to revise his web site, I was hooked.

Web design incorporates the many things I enjoy: design, color, puzzles, challenges, learning new things. I would be happy to work with you to help you define what your site needs, so you have a site you can be proud of at a reasonable cost.
